Simplicity and an honest use of materials are two other characteristics of Verroken’s furniture that follow directly from the tendency towards purity and geometry found in the Art Nouveau style. The modular and clear organisation of articles of everyday use is found in TRAPKAST from 1988…, a seamlessly accomplished example of the antithesis of the contrived and laboured ‘originality’ that make countless contemporary items of designer furniture unbearably pretentious… .
