[:nl]In het werk van Verroken blijft, verrassend genoeg, de constructieve opbouw meestal onzichtbaar en gaat op in de structurele samenhang die essentiëel bestaat uit de combinatie van herkenbare elementen die al of niet ook zelfstandig kunnen bestaan. Het meest expliciet maken we dit mee in de serie tafels VAN DUO TOT OCTET, waarin het schakelbare element DUO zelf al bestaat uit een eenheid van twee in elkaar geschoven vierkante tafels. De basiseenheid demonstreert overigens in nuce alle karakteristieken van de hele aanpak. Het is een strenge, gesloten compositie, die niet af is en nooit tot rust komt. Ze vraagt om aanvulling en om een voltooiing die nooit definitief kan zijn.

This is at its most explicit for us in the series of tables entitled FROM DUO TO OCTET in which the variable element DUO consists in itself of a union of two rectangular tables pushed one into the other. In effect, its basic unity demonstrates in a nutshell all the characteristics of the whole approach. It is a sober, minimal composition that is unfinished and never at rest. It demands supplementation and a completion that can never be definitive.
